Delafield Legion Commander’s Corner
April/May 2009
To all,
Spring is in the air. It still might be cold outside, but it is warming up. I hope to see increased activity around the different functions of our Legion’s Family. It seems that when we do something at our clubhouse, it is our Family that roles up their sleeves and helps to get the job done. People working together for the good of the legion, its ideas and perceptions to be forwarded by all – the S.A.L. members, the Auxiliary and the Legionnaires together make up Post 196, and I for one am glad.
I am hoping, and praying that we will begin to see more of our members at our meetings. I have been trying my best to lead this Post for the last three years. It is time for me to step down. Remember that this is your Legion and your assemblage. It has always been my practice that if you have an idea, concern, or just something you want to say, let me know BEFORE the meeting (646-3126) and I will place you on the agenda. One of my goals was to return to some of the grand traditions of the Legion, to this ends I feel we have been successful. I hope this Memorial Day will be another outstanding display of our dedication and devotion to our Veterans as we honor those that have gone before us to Post Everlasting this year.
I am not leaving town, quitting, or even giving up. It simply has been a tradition of Post 196 to have someone serve as Commander for no more than three years – and my term is up (or three and out as they say in football). This year I am looking forward to leading our Legion in the Hypertension Study with Mark Mulvany (we are co-leaders). As Veterans, we hope to find information that will be of benefit to our Veterans all over the United States. I sure hope you have signed up to be a part of this study; if not there still is time.
See you at the meeting…
